Welcome to Beyond The Gates - Guidance for off site visits and related activities. Beyond the Gates has been written to provide advice and guidance to our clients at EVOLVE Advice. For many years we have provided employer guidance for our clients. Beyond the Gates replaces, and builds on, earlier EVOLVE Advice guidance for clients, including: ‘Guidance for Off-Site Visits and Related Activities with National Guidance & EVOLVE’.
This guidance is built around the international standard ISO 31031, Managing risk for youth and school trips. Read it alongside the law and regulations of the country where your school operates and of the countries you visit. UK schools should visit Beyond the Gates for UK Specific Guidance
This guidance applies to any school, college, youth group or other organisation that takes children and young people away from their usual place of activity, in its own country or abroad, for any length of time. For these purposes young people are those under 25, but your organisation should set the age range that fits local law and its own purpose. Some of the guidance can also help with trips for vulnerable adults, but check the rules that apply to them.
